At Journey Life Church we refer to our missions as “impacts” because we believe in making an impact on people’s lives both locally and globally. It is our hearts desire to show God’s love in a practical way whether we’re at the grocery store, going through the drive thru or traveling across the world!
Matt 9: 37,38 “The harvest is plenty, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields”. ~At JLC we believe if we can’t go, we need to send the workers.
Global Impacts are carried out through the financial and spiritual support of missionaries as well as partnering with our missionaries on special projects and short term mission’s trips.
JLC Global Impacts includes:
- Operation Christmas Child
- Philippines Church Rebuilding (after 2013 typhoon)
- Funding a School in Haiti
- Short term mission’s trips to Haiti, Costa Rica, and The Dream Center in Atlanta, GA.
- Supporting Boys & Girls Missionary Challenge (BGMC)

James and Rachael Courter are Assemblies of God missionaries who founded ARISE Haiti ministries in 2008. They live on the Southern coast of Haiti in the community of Gelèe Beach just outside of Les Cayes, the 3rd largest city in Haiti. James is a licensed physical therapist and also a minister with the Assemblies of God. Rachael is a physician assistant and the director of the Arise Haiti Medical Ministries. James and Rachael have five beautiful children Gabriel, Elisha, Grace, Nehemiah and Shekinah. Above all, James and Rachael are passionate to witness the people of God draw closer to Him and witness supernatural transformation in their lives and communities.
Haiti, a Caribbean island nation of over 9 million people, is the least developed, poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Riddled with a history of political and social turmoil for over 200 years the country of Haiti has struggled to stand. Despite being only second to India for having the largest NGO force per capita in the world, Haiti today remains in a desperate situation. While the global community searches for a political, social or economic solution we believe the true hope for Haiti will be found in spiritual transformation.
The Arise Healing Center is treating nearly 300 patients each week, providing access to medications that many could not afford. The Arise School of Ministry is equipping 34 leaders in the principles of transformational ministry. After celebrating our first graduation in January 2015 the Assemblies of God Haiti established a newly formed district here in southern Haiti. The first in their 57 year history in Haiti! God has done amazing things in Haiti and we cannot overestimate His goodness!
At this moment in history the evangelical church in Haiti has grown to an estimated of 30% of the population. In the words of the prophet Isaiah we believe God is calling His church to: “give (ourselves] no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem (Haiti) and makes her the praise of the earth” (Isaiah 62:6-7).
We are to: “renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations” (Isaiah 61:4).
If we do this, Ezekiel promises, “the name of the city from that time on will be: THE LORD IS THERE” (Ezekiel 48:35).
Now is the time, we believe God is calling the church to ARISE in Haiti and witness a supernatural reconciliation and restoration of the nation.

Indonesia is the fourth most populous nation in the world and the world’s largest Muslim nation. Java, the most populous island in the world, is home to 130 million people on a land mass the size of Eastern Washington. That is as many people as live west of the Mississippi River in America!
Many fine arts are available for enjoyment due to the cultural diversity of Indonesia. Indonesia is known for gamelan music, wayang puppets, and dances that represent various islands. Fine craftsmanship, including batik fabric, wood carvings, and pottery are also available in Indonesia.
The tropical archipelago of Indonesia lies in the Pacific Ring of Fire and spreads as wide as the United States. It is home to the greatest marine bio-diversity and the second greatest overall bio-diversity in the world. Palm oil, rice, tea, coffee, spices, and rubber are some of Indonesia’s main agricultural products. Major industries include petroleum, natural gas, textiles, apparel, and mining.
Indonesia has been devastated by numerous natural disasters. On December 26, 2004, Indonesia suffered a 9.3 magnitude earthquake that was followed by a tsunami. 180,000 Indonesians were killed. Since that time, many natural disasters have occurred in Indonesia, including earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes.
John and Korie have been in Indonesia since 2004. John is the lead pastor of ICA Surabaya, a two branch English speaking church with primarily Indonesian congregants. They meet in two malls of our city of 6.5 million people, and have a four-fold missions focus:
Kembang Kuning: Near the largest red-light district in Southeast Asia, they reach some of the poorest families of our city through a weekly feeding program, English reading courses, and a youth leadership development program.
Disaster Relief: They are ready to respond to natural disasters that frequently strike Indonesia.
Church Building: They are building 100 churches throughout Indonesia in 15 years, and in 2012, they had completed building number 22 out of 100.
Church Planting amongst an Unreached People Group: They mentor and support six frontier church planters who live in six key cities of the Banjar people. The Banjar people number over four million people and they are 0% Evangelical.

Mark and Kim Gardner are believing for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Namibia and are doing whatever it takes to see that happen. We believe God is wanting to pour His Spirit out on these African nations and raise up a generation of African missionaries to exponentially bring in the harvest. We are working with the churches to facilitate this vision as well as with children and youth who carry the vision, hopes, and destiny of the nations. Through Prayer Meetings, Camps, TellaVision, and every other venue we find we are proclaiming the acceptable year of the Lord’s favor, the Kingdom which has come, and the earnest expectation of that which is to come, His promised Holy Spirit outpourings in these last days.We are seeking to train the churches here in Spirit-filled, full gospel children’s ministry.

Spain is a beautiful country! It is known for its towering buildings, rich art and cultural history, phenomenal food, and strong economy. From the outside, Spain is perceived as an enviable and self-sufficient country, but behind this facade it’s a very dark place spiritually.
-more than 70% of Spaniards are agnostic or atheistic
-in a country of over 40 million people, only 20,000 believers in AG churches
-200 churches within the AG fellowship
-89% of young adults live in major cities after graduating high school
-tremendous Muslim influence from Middle East/ North Africa
Though once known as a Roman Catholic nation, this changed after the dictatorship of Franco ended in 1975. The state mandated religion was no more, and most of the population at that time opted to leave that faith. Spain is now considered a “post-Christian” society. We believe that Spain is a “pre-Christian” culture, because those born in the last 30-35 years know nothing of Christ and his ability to transform their lives.
We predominantly work with Young Adults in campus ministry. We recently added a third service at church and are so excited we are growing! We also just started a new ministry called the Raval Ministry Center where we will be ministering to a neighborhood whose concentration is immigrant and includes the Red Light District of Barcelona. Please pray with us for Spain, for open doors and creative avenues of effective and relevant ministry!

We call our ministry Mission Activation. Our mission is to be a catalyst that activates the kingdom in every responsive person and then equip them to multiply disciples in their culture without imposing ours. We have a call to be catalysts who activate the expansion of God’s kingdom in three ways:
1. Activating Encounters with God’s Love.
We lead people into an encounter with God’s love that will capture hearts, set people free from fear, reconcile them to God, and move believers from being spectator Christians to being sent Christians.
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us.” -John 4:18-19
2. Activating Holy Spirit Ministry.
The Holy Spirit fills us and empowers us to heal the sick, drive out demons and see the kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. We are seeing an increase of people being healed and being activated into praying for other’s healing.
“My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.” -1 Corinthians 2:4-5
3. Activating Disciple Multiplication.
The key to the rapid expansion of kingdom movements is disciples multiplying disciples. When you make disciples, you always get the church, but when you make the church you often don’t get disciples.
Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” -Matthew 28:18-19

We are working hand-in-hand with churches on the island of Mindoro to prepare workers and plant more churches to reap and preserve the harvest.
Mindoro is the seventh-largest island in the Philippines. It is located off the coast of Luzon, and northeast of Palawan. The southern coast of Mindoro forms the northeastern extremum of the Sulu Sea.

Alex continues to build the House of Prayer/prayer room (doing prayer and worship daily) in Chiang Mai. She is serving with her local church in evangelism and worship training. Alex is fervently studying Thai (and able to have conversations now!) And she is also serving in several orphanages. Alex says, “God is passionately pursuing Thai hearts everyday and I get to partner with Him in doing that!”.
Jake and Jessica serve in Northern Asia among a people group in which there are no known believers. There is not a Bible or even a word for Jesus in their language! They will be laying the foundation of the Good News for the first time among these unreached people.
In a nation that is hostile towards followers of Christ, these missionaries are currently living and operating as English teachers. They build relationships with students through the English school in order to share the Gospel. The school also provides a cover for an underground Bible School where they train believers all across this nation and send them back to their villages. In five years there have been over 500 newly baptized believers!
We are now established pastors in our country. We are planting an International Church. Our church is a multitude of nationalities coming together forming a Kingdom community whose culture is the pursuit of holiness in worship of Jesus. Our mission is to make Jesus visible to the unengaged majority by being the Church to the international community living among them.
Scott and Susan are a part of the Live Dead: Arab World initiative. This means they are dedicated to pioneering at whatever the cost. They go to where the conditions are harsh, fierce, lonely and demanding. Where they are is dangerous. Their heart is to be there and share the love of Jesus with the unreached Muslim people.
With a passion for teaching, serving, and one-on-one relationships, they are on the adventure of a lifetime- bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to an unreached people group!
They are working with an unreached people group in Northern Asia; 7 million who have not heard, 7 million who desperately need Christ!
Church Planting: Hope for Uruguay is a movement to plant new churches in Uruguay and share the hope of Jesus with the people of this wonderful nation. We had the privilege of working with Isaac & Terry Smythia to help start 3 new churches in Tala, Playa Pascual and Costa Azul. God has blessed these works and today they are led by national pastors, have their own buildings and are actively reaching their communities. Currently we are part of the leadership team helping to planting more churches in the most unreached parts of the nation.
Sports Evangelism: Uruguayans LOVE soccer! We are using the sport to reach out to many people who don’t normally go to church by doing camps, clinics, tournaments, and just playing in the park. Our goal is that through these events, not only will people have fun playing soccer, but more importantly they will start a relationship with Jesus!

Tammy and Nino worked at the University of Michigan Chi Alpha chapter until 1997. In 1997 they moved to Boise, Idaho with a group of 7 “tent maker” missionaries and planted a new ministry at Boise State University, home of the blue Astroturf! This was an invaluable experience for them, and God taught them many lessons about campus ministry, and most importantly, about themselves.
In 2003 they began their present season of ministry. Nino and Tammy returned to Ann Arbor to once again do missions work at the University of Michigan, their alma mater. They planted a new campus church at UM called H2O Campus Church. As Chi Alpha missionaries, their desire is to reach UM students for Christ, mentor them in their new faith and release them into a lifetime of service within the local church. Planting a campus church was a new model for their Chi Alpha team. They are excited to be pioneering something new and cutting edge that is impacting many students for Christ here at UM and across the nation.

Her message is simple:
“Jesus is EVERYTHING! Live for Him wholeheartedly!
He has your best interest in mind. If you would but seek to obey His voice you will find yourself partnering with the God of the Universe in ways you can’t even imagine!
I had no idea what God had in store for my life, but I knew that I loved serving Him! It was in my 6th year at Eastern Michigan that God made it plain to me that I was called to full time ministry work. In a step of faith, I jumped into an internship program after graduation, which then led to directing the very same ministry (Chi Alpha) that influenced my life in college!
God is SO GOOD! I wouldn’t trade what I do for anything! By God’s grace, I have seen many lives changed by His power and set free from bondage to reach out and bring others to Christ! Nothing can replace the joy of seeing others come to know our amazing God! And no greater fulfillment comes then when you find yourself doing what God created you to do!”

It takes just 21 days to form a habit, and the most influential habits are formed before the age 21. Building Twentyone is a unique,youth-driven center focused on building trust, hope, character, influence, and potential in students before the age of 21.
Building Twentyone is committed to give students the opportunity to develop life changing values, while coaching them to find their passion and purpose to be actively engaged in their families, schools, and communities.
Building Twentyone will positively influence students and continue to guide them in pursing their passions by providing unique and diverse opportunities through the pursuit of sponsorships, community support, and dollars raised in an effort to expand and better the center, its programs, and the safe environment for students to find their place.
Diverse students 7th to 12th grade, in the Greater Lansing Area, with a teachable attitude and desire to grow.
Building Twentyone is an organization committed to the principles of positive youth development, and roots its programming on best practices within the components of a youth development framework. According to a widely accepted definition by the National Collaboration for Youth Members youth development is: a process which prepares young people to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood through a coordinated, progressive series of activities and experiences which help them become socially, morally, emotionally, physically, and cognitively competent. Positive youth development addresses the broader developmental needs of youth, contrast to deficit-based models, which focus solely on youth problems.

Soundsgood stands for the SOUND of the GOOD news of Jesus Christ. We create cutting edge music and media with the purpose of using it as a tool to take the GOSPEL to the YOUTH. We partner up with Churches and Organizations to host Concert Outreaches with one of our 4 Artist Missionaries with the purpose to share the gospel with youth from all over. This is just the beginning of a deeper purpose and vision we have been given.
Our heart is to not only put on concert outreaches–but use them as a tool to present youth with the Gospel and invite them to be disciples and a part of Get Rooted; this is the ultimate goal. GET ROOTED is a discipleship method that filters through the channel of developing teens in the local church/community of believers through small groups. It has 7 ROOTs which are 7 basic biblical foundational principles. We believe discipleship builds God’s church and equips and trains believers to share the Gospel. We all need discipleship, but most of all youth need it now more than ever before! Everything we do funnels to the ultimate goal of discipleship in Christ.

JonMark and Kara are Chi Alpha missionaries to Lake Superior State University. They burn with passion for God’s Kingdom to be demonstrated in power, the lost to be saved, and disciples to be made on the university campus.
They believe the university is the most strategic mission field on the face of the earth. The world comes to America’s universities to study, then go back to become leaders in their nations.

Youth Alive® assists churches to mobilize students to reach other students! To empower churches to connect with their local schools! Youth Alive® simply believes that every student and every school matters!
At the Atlanta Dream Center, we believe that love is an action word. It is the guiding principle behind all we say and do. It is why when we see a need, we act, and why it is our overarching desire is to reach the lost, rescue those in need and restore the brokenhearted.
Our vision is to reach, rescue and restore men, women and children so that the glory of God may be known. Each of these precious ones is part of a notoriously difficult-to-reach demographic that includes the homeless, commercially sexually exploited and at-risk, underprivileged children. We have seen the injustice visited upon these lives, and we are determined to be aggressive in our response.
Through His goodness, God has allowed us to partner with Him in bringing restoration to those shunned by society through our three powerful ministries: iAm, (Men); Out of Darkness, (women); and Metro Kidz, (children). Each day, we strive to reach, rescue and restore these dear ones not through our might but His.
